JPK Appearance in New Ad for Philips Electronics

I was thrilled to work on this very cool ‘brand film’ for Philips Electronics which already has over one million views. I was asked to put together an 8-piece, TCB-era Elvis band and perform live at the New Daisy Theater with the truly amazing Elvis Tribute Artist, Dean Z. The subject of the ad, Keith Hart, did a great job. It was a blast to do.

I have to thank my buddy Brad Birkedahl for giving me the gig, and for letting me borrow pretty much his entire band: Earl Lowe, Gerald Stephens, John McClure, Kirk Smothers, and Marc Franklin. We had Reba Russell singing with us, along with my friend Emily Barker. Emily just happened to be in town from the UK cutting her album at Sam Phillips Recording and was game for singing some backups. (Suffice to say, the native Australian Miss Barker had the most Memphis week of all time).

On a side note, file under: ironic. Philips Electronics once sued Sam Phillips, the man who of course made Elvis Presley, over the name of his Phillips International record label. Now, a little less conversation…
